How it Works

evSpot works with any OCPP-compliant smart charger. Most smart chargers are OCPP-compliant, but many are locked to specific providers, similar to how some cell phones are locked to certain networks. If your charger allows configuration of OCPP settings, it should work with evSpot.

We recommend Wallbox chargers for their open interoperability, reliability, and competitive pricing. These chargers use a J1772 connector, the most common type for Level 2 charging in North America. You can purchase a Wallbox charger from our website or your preferred retailer.

The 40A Wallbox charger comes with a NEMA 14-50 plug that can be plugged into a NEMA 14-50 receptacle. If you don't already have an EV charging receptacle, you can hardwire the charger. Consult a local electrician to explore your options.

Unbox the charger, mount it, plug it in, and apply the evSpot Conversion Kit decal if it isn’t already applied. Next, connect to your charger using the Wallbox App and enter the OCPP settings found on your evSpot Seller Dashboard. You will need to enter the OCPP URL, identity, and password. Once entered, your charger will be connected to evSpot, and you'll have your own shared EV charging station!

Yes. As an owner, scanning the barcode unlocks the charger and allows charging for free. Your credit card won't be charged, and no platform fees will be collected. Additional owners can be assigned to each charger.

Yes, you have full control over your charger's pricing. You can set an upfront session fee, an hourly rate for time spent charging, an energy rate for actual energy consumed (kWh), a per minute idle rate, or any combination of these options.

Our Seller Dashboard offers detailed graphs and reports on sales and charger usage, allowing you to easily track the performance of chargers that you own.

Net revenue generated from your chargers' usage is automatically deposited into your bank account each month. We've partnered with Stripe, a leader in online payment processing, to securely manage your information and process all transactions. A 1099-K will be issued if you exceed $5,000 in gross volume.
